Abstract

This piece profiles the community of metalheads (fans of heavy metal music) around the world through the eyes of two fans, Ruben and Samar, who both have different tastes within the vast world of metal. The piece includes interviews with these two individuals who make it clear that metal is an extremely diverse and often misunderstood style of music, where sensationalism and stigmas tend to overshadow the immense quality of the music in popular culture.
